New Online Data Entry!

On AWW data and water monitoring data entry …

The AWW database is closing in on 90,000 water monitoring data records and with all of that data comes a need for efficient data management! Since 2002, the majority of water data has been submitted electronically by certified AWW monitors. Even with all of our years of experience managing the AWW database and web tools, AWW has to learn and adapt every day in order to keep up with constantly changing technology. In addition, we have to balance the changing needs of our volunteers and waterbodies.

With this in mind, we would like to introduce you to our newest online data entry system that was developed in an effort to provide monitors with an improved data entry and review process. Our tests of the new system have received positive feedback.

You can try out the updated AWW data entry system by clicking the New Data Entry link on the AWW Water Data page or click here to go directly to the login page (https://web.auburn.edu/aww/charts/awwlogin.aspx). Please remember that to have access to that page and features you will need to have an AWW user ID and an AWW user name.

New data entry login system.

Upon signing on in the log-in page, the system opens a Welcome Page for the certified monitor displaying updated information about monitoring activity (number of records received at AWW) and dates of last sampling and last certification completed for each type of monitoring.

This new Welcome Page also provides options to:

  • review all the data collected for each site linked to the logged-in monitor;
  • review the monitor’s history of certifications with AWW; and
  • open a map that displays all sites historically monitored by the monitor’s groups.

From the Welcome Page the monitor can select the type of water data to be entered and open the desired data entry form. These features should help monitors stay up to date on certification status and data entry more easily.

Let us know what you think – we want your feedback so we can continue to improve!
