PhotoVoices: BraveHeart Center for Place and Purpose Ambassadors Photograph the 2024 AWW Annual Meeting!

Community Inclusion Ambassadors with BraveHeart  helped capture participants, activities, and the beautiful Kreher Preserve & Nature Center at the 2024 AWW Annual Meeting as Event Photographers.

One of the BraveHeart Center for Place and Purpose (BCPP) four program goals is to “utilize photo voice as an outreach tool to encourage disability awareness and acceptance. BCPP Photo Voice Project culminates in photo exhibits at 1-2 venues each year.” Photo voice uses photography as a means of story telling, empowering individuals to express their unique perspective on the world around them.

Photo voices provides a unique platform for participants to showcase their personal perspectives by capturing what they find photo-worthy in their environment. This initiative empowers individuals to express themselves through the lens of a camera, highlighting the aspects of the world that resonate most deeply with them. Whether it’s the intricate details of a flower, the sweeping expanse of a landscape, or the quiet moments of wildlife, each photograph reflects the photographer’s individual sense of connection and meaning.

The photographers didn’t just capture wildlife interactions; they also documented the attendees of the meeting, from Volunteer Monitors to interested citizens and other environmental organizations at the meeting.

The images of volunteers showcase the spirit of collaboration and mutual support that defines the AWW community. Through their photography, the Ambassadors were able to freeze these moments in time, allowing others to feel the joy, connection, and enthusiasm that were so palpable at the event.
