2025 Workshop Recap

2025 was another busy year for AWW Staff, Volunteer Trainers, and Monitors! We appreciate the time and effort our Volunteer Trainers, Monitors, workshop participants, and program partners dedicated to making this another successful year of monitoring trainings and professional development opportunities.

Monitoring Training Sessions for Water Chemistry, Bacteriological, and Stream Biomonitoring were held in 13 Alabama Counties in 2025. Over 260 Volunteer Monitors were certified or recertified through 3 Stream Biomonitoring Sessions, 36 Water Chemistry Monitoring Sessions, and 30 Bacteriological Monitoring Sessions (led by Volunteer Trainers and AWW Staff) throughout the state.

AWW Staff also conducted educator professional development trainings through the FARM Project (read more here) and the 4-H AWW Making a Splash! Workshop (read more here), and Alabama Rivers Educator Workshop, with around 50 participating classroom teachers and 4-H educators participating.

Our 2026 schedule for monitoring trainings and other events is already filling up! The majority of our monitoring trainings are from January to May of each year, so if you are interested in participating, make sure you reserve your spot!
