Alabama Water Watch and Wolf Bay Watershed Watch (WBWW) were showcased in the Ecological Society of America’s publication Issues in Ecology – Investing in Citizen Science Can Improve Natural Resource Management and Environmental Protection.
Environmental stewardship efforts of WBWW, backstopped by the AWW Program in the Auburn University Water Resources Center, were featured as an ideal example of citizen science involving the public in watershed-level water quality monitoring to achieve conservation goals – in this case, the successful push in collaboration with the Alabama Department of Environmental Management for upgrading the bay to Outstanding Alabama Waters (OAW).
The Wolf Bay Group of water watchers has done such a great job over the many years they have been testing and protecting the Wolf Bay area. My congratulations to them for all their efforts to improve and promote clean healthy water conditions in that area. They are so deserving of the recognition they received!
